WIPs & Plushies

If you don't count the dog I did for the swap this winter, these are actually my first G4 customs: a fact I can hardly believe if for no other reason than because I should've done this before. But I suppose that's one of the effects of taking such a long time to finish any given custom. This is what they looked like a few days ago; now they both have tails and partial manes.
I would've resculpted Sun Runner's face to look more male, but the whole reason for using a Fluttershy bait was so I could just use the base color.
And for Moondancer, I'm using the hair clippings from my wrecked childhood G1. ...Which is making me rethink the possibility of EVER using clippings again. I firmly believe it should not take longer to make the hair plugs than to root them. Making hair plugs for one tiny G4 should not be a multi-day task. Maybe I'll get faster at it with some more practice...?
Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon once more tweaking my plushie pattern.
I'm about 80% happy with how my Sun Runner plushie turned out, which makes him by far the most successful plush I've made so far. When I drew up the pattern for his head, I wasn't specifically going for any particular generation, which was liberating, but it didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to, either, mostly around the throat/jawline area. Plus (and this is no fault of the pattern's) I stuffed him more loosely than his predecessors, which yes, did result in a higher Cuddleability Index, but makes him much more prone to falling over. Ah, but nothing's perfect.

I'll post some more/better pictures later in his very own entry. Photo processing seems like such a chore lately.
Anyway, the pattern work I did yesterday was specific to reverting it back to a G4-specific female pony. I did up a prototype of the new head pattern (including where it meets the neck) and am quite happy with the results. What I'm really hankering for is a Derpy Hooves who's much closer to the canon design than the last one I did (which was, uh... less than ideal... wtf is up with that muzzle??). The new one will be much, much better.
If I can lay my hands on the fabric I need. I'm so broke right now. More than usual, I mean.
